Term 2 - Week 2

Lucia received our 'star of the week' award this week for being super-organised and showing confidence in her learning.
Lucia is always ready for each lesson and is comfortable questioning the ideas of others, justifying her own ideas, and trying more than one way to answer a question or solve a problem.
Well done Lucia!

Yesterday Mr Pearson brought in some ripe feijoas that his son Zico had collected for us.  They smelled like passionfruit and sweet honey, they looked like green quail eggs.  First Mr Pearson sliced firmly down, it only took a couple of seconds to slice through it because the skin was so thin.  The inside of the feijoa looked like a four-leafed clover in the middle and on the outside it was a frame of white.  After that I scooped a spoonful of ripe sticky stuff into my mouth and it was good…it ran down my arm and onto my desk.  It tasted like a mix of kiwifruit and passionfruit…feijoas are great!  By Hannah

Term 2 - Week 1

Mission accomplished!  We worked together to make our giant poppy to go on the tī kōuka wall space in the hall.
You can see how tall it was.....much bigger than our practise ones.
Along the way were learned that
every one needs to do their jobs, that you don't always get to do the job you wanted to do, that you need to encourage (and sometimes re-focus) your group, that it is important to keep an eye on the time, that you must communicate and check that everyone know what they are doing...otherwise different people can accidentally double up and end up doing the same part twice (yes...this did happen).

We began our football (not soccer...our coach doesn't like it being called soccer) coaching.

The challenge:  Use three sheets of newspaper and some cellotape to make a model of a poppy.
The time limit was 25 minutes and teamwork was a focus.
Well done tī kōuka!
Next challenge...make a much bigger one as a class, with colour,  to put on display in the hall for assembly on Friday (ANZAC theme).
