Nina's Butterfly Lion writing

Today we wrote about how Bertie met and rescued the Butterfly Lion for the first time. We retold the story in our own words. We focused on hooking in the reader and using Wow words.

Here is ( Birthday Girl!!) Nina's  writing- we were all impressed with how she used great words to create a picture in our minds.....

Bertie woke up with a start to hear the sound of lapping at the water hole. He rolled out of bed and staggered towards the window. As he looked out he saw a tiny cub, but sadly it was brown not white  Then suddenly the cub stopped lapping and stared at something.  Bertie stared too because there at the water hole were three hyenas circling the cub. Bertie ran screaming from the house not hesitating to open the gate... By Nina.

Our Wind Farm

Our Wind Farm
In our topic we have been learning about wind farms and turbines. We made a wind farm from Knects. Logan came up with the idea. The people who made it were Nick, Liam, Conner and Logan. We also made a connection power transmitter and also a storage battery. We love our wind turbine!

Liam and His amazing Catamaran project!

Just look at this amazing Project that Liam and his Poppa did over the holidays. They made a NZEmirates catamaran from scratch! It is trully amazing with great detail. Liam's write up is to follow.

Holiday Recounts.

We have been focusing on hooking in the reader and on using  astounding adverbs!
 here are some examples:

The Movies

I was going to the movies with my mum on a cold rainy Monday

afternoon.  The rain splattered down on our car as my mum drove.

We were going to watch the Smurfs 2. As we walked into the theatre

my mum produced the movie vouchers we’d got for a present that

were exchangeable for 1 adults ticket and 1 child’s ticket.  My mum

got me some ‘MnMs’ and a packet of Maltesers for herself. We 

settled down in row e. I sat on the left end with mum beside me. I

like sitting on the end  because you are not sitting beside some-

one you don’t know. We also saw Pru with her boy. We put on our 

3d glasses and started watching the movie. It was a really exciting,

interesting, funny movie. After we had watched the movie we went

home quickly and quietly. I collapsed down on the sofa happily.

Phew! I was so tired. I really loved my day at the movies and hope

to go there again.

Dining with my friends

I heard a person coming up the motel could it be? Yes its Dilynn,Sophie,Jiselle and Meg.Should we go for a dip in the pool? I said quietly. ‘Ok’ they said.Curiously we changed in the same room one after the other.Very carefully I dived in the pool. ‘Its freezing cold’ I said to my-self. We got changed.Then ate at the pool instead. Then Dilynn,Meg,Sophie and Jiselle go home. I can’t wait till they come back to have dinner.

EAR S PIERCED!

I was muttering as I sat down to get my ears pieced. First the man draw little  black dots on my ears he had to get them correct. Secondly he got the guns ready not real  guns he shot them in. It felt numb for a while.Then it was my cousins turn ,Grace who is 12 years old. Awkwardly my sister said since you got your ears pierced can I get a tattoo immediately? Mum said NO!
